Flutist, educator, arts administrator, mindfulness coach, and therapeutic musician in Southeast Michigan
Teaching Philosophy
I began my private teaching career as an undergraduate student and have maintained a vibrant flute studio for more than thirty years. My teaching philosophy is grounded in meeting each student exactly where they are, fostering musicality and technical mastery that flow from a sense of ease, curiosity, and joy. While some programs emphasize competition or achievement benchmarks, my teaching approach prioritizes foundational skill building, artistic expression, and collaborative performance, which helps guide students toward confident, expressive, and sustainable musicianship.
